Default New Owner - Couple Questions

New to the board, love it. Just got a great deal on a RX350 with Nav. Plan on picking up an Invision 8" DVD set. Already got the splash guards on order through Sewell and Weathertech liners.

1) For those of you that had the Invision installed, how do you like it? Does the color match correctly? Im getting quoted $2295 and $2450 for dealer install, from previous posts it seems to be what everyone else paid.

2) What do you recommend for body coverage? My delivery specialist tried selling me on clear protection for the doors. I know some of you have the clear bra for the front end. Do you see the line where the bra ends on your hood? I have the Obsidian so I am afraid it will show easily.

Any thoughts?

no comments on that Invision unit since I don't have one.

As for the clear bra, I currently have it on my GS350, SC430 and RX350.
I think it is a good investment.
You will see the line on the hood more or less unless you get the whole hood covered.

My RX350 is also the Obsidian (hard to keep clean), so I have the clear bra (ventureshield) on the whole car for $1600.

Hope this isn't a complete thread hijack, but what product(s) and techniques do you use to maintain that much clear bra?

To the original poster, I have it on half the hood, part of the front fenders, and the mirrors. The car had it before I first saw it. I tape off the edge when I wax the hood. Wax, polish or compound make the edge show requiring careful use of a toothpick.

Default Obsidian

I have obsidian also, it gets dirty looking every other day.

I see water marks even I wash with windex and towel dry immediately.

I might need to bring to car wash bi-weekly.

clear bra is absolutely worth it. I usually get the full hood and the full front bumper to protect from rock chips. There is a plae in the bay area (though pricey) wraps the edges of the hood so that you dont get the line.

The Invision headrest system I believe you're referring to is the SL series that features the 8" display with active headrests. This system, while not on our website is just $1554 to CL members. We keep this in stock for the black, gray and tan interiors.

Of course, with this you'd have to have someone perform the installation, but at least here's some information that may help you.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Appreciate it. Ive been trolling the board for a while before settling on the RX.

$1554 sounds like a great deal for the 8". Any clue as to if the dealer would install if I bought them elsewhere, or what they will cost. I would imagine somewhere around $3-400.

Definitely going to go with a clear bra, going to call around and see whats available around here. Most likely full hood but would like the entire car but I'm sure it will be pretty pricey around the Chicago area.

I treat it like regular paint washing and putting NXT or detail spray on it.
