Installed K&N High Flow Air Filter
I know there's been a lot of discussion about the pros and cons about putting a K&N filter in the RX. All I can say is I've installed aftermarket air filters on all the cars that I've owned and I have yet to experience any issue with it (MAF or not). I know that the RX is no performance SUV but I want a better air flow, better fuel economy, and better/improved acceleration. So, I guess I'll be the guinea pig for the 3rd gen RX.
To the naysayers, with all due respect, it's best you not say anything because I really don't care.

thx for sharing pics! what's the part number for the K&N air filter? like mep7557, i'm curious if the K&N provides better fuel economy (and perhaps better performance).

The HP gain is probably marginal. There is no air intake kit available for the 2010 RX at this time. However, if there was, it might be similar to the 3.5L Camry where a 12.74 HP gain is claimed.

^^^ Talked to JoeZ about an intake for the RX way back last year when I got my wife's RX. If you look under the hood I don't think it's worth it. K&N or Blitz drop in air filter is the way to go.
I do wish HKS makes an exhaust for the RX though.

Finally! Been waiting for a year. I've noticed better off-line accel with K&N vs stock for my cars, but no mileage gains. Used one for our old 05RX330 as well.
Figures though, just changed my filter with new OEM as the original filter (25k miles now) was filthy (light barely passes through it). How much did the K & N cost?
Never heard of Blitz, and research only found drop in filters...not reusable. Is that the correct Blitz filter that was referred to, or is there a reusable Blitz filter out there?

Wife's update:
Wife said: "acceleration is quicker" and "rumble sound is more noticeable". I like the rumble sound though
Don't know about the MPG but I have a lead foot.
@ afpj: I ordered it at KNFilters.com store and cost $49.99 + tax $4.87 = $54.86 shipped to me. Free UPS ground shipping and got it in 2 days.
Blitz is a Japanese tuning co. for over 20+ years. Unfortunately they don't make a drop in filter for the 3rd gen RX (yet, wishful thinking). Their drop in filters are not reusable but with regular cleaning/dusting should last for a while.

Are you expecting a problem? I've had K & N in 4 other cars with never a problem. I must say I do take my time (like all day) to wash and reoil the filter when it's time, and I put on oil a little at a time (that's why it takes so long for me) and not had a problem (knock on wood, toss salt over shoulder, rub rabbits foot). I'm waiting for my newly bought paper filter to get dirty, in about 4 mos, to get the K&N. Glad to know that yours is OK though. Since there is that carbon filter right behind the air filter, I doubt these cars will get MAF issues.
