Note: I'm new to the Forum and I posted this to another forum:
I ordered a K & N filter through my local Canadian Tire here in Vancouver. Lordco had no listing yet. The person I talked to at CT said they have an account with K & N and could order one. She said it would likely cost $80 to $100. I asked them to get an actual price and it turned out to be $55, which you have to pay in advance for a special order. I've seen them online for $49 + $20 shipping, so Canadian Tire is a good deal.
Installing the filter improved the dismal city mileage slightly. But then, the current filter sucked up a lot of dust during a summer road trip.

For those of you who put in the KN filter: Is the KN filter inset enough from its edges so that the oiled filter element avoids contact with the carbon filter covered with that white plastic mesh just ahead of the MAF? The OEM paper filter looks like it touches that carbon filter since the OEM paper filter has no real lip or edge around it. THanks. I couldn't really tell from the pics from the OP...

i removed the carbon filter covered with that white plastic mesh after i installed my K&N filter. i forgot where i read about doing so but i do get a nicer sound and my GX seems to be a bit "peppier"

LZMF1, thanks for your info. I didn't remove the carbon filter in our 05 RX (had plenty of clearance ), and the KN filter worked fine and was peppier than stock. I wonder if anyone else does this or leaves the carbon filter in place for the 10RX?

Naazin, be careful with the "mods"....take it from a guy that went through plenty of "mods" when my son had the 89 Mustang......the problem that I see is that iof the mod disturbs something and it shows immediatelly you can back out but if it takes a while to manifest it self and in the ma=ean time other mods are performed then it becomes more difficult to identify the culprit....just a cheap advise....<S>

All K&N filters
They are all oil impregnated foam so they catch more dust and finer dust than a "dry" filter; and of course more expensive. If you don't drive in sandstorms or heavy dust you can clean them every 50,000 miles and than re-oil them again. They do let in more air as paper is restrictive and that is why you see them on so many race cars and trucks!!!
