Default 5000 mile service

I called my dealer this week to schedule the 5000 mile service. They asked if the RX was running fine and I said yes. He said with the new guidelines from Lexus there is no need to bring the car in until the 10,000 service. We could still bring it in if we want to. Are most of the people on the forum still bringing in the car for inspection or are you waiting for the 10,000 mile service?

I had about 8k when this came out and already had the 5k done complimentary. Called the dealer and they want me to come in again at 10k complimentary also.

I have about 800 miles to go

I plan on going in around July (don't hit the miles) to do the tire rotation at the dealer.

I took mine in for the complimentary 5k service for the tire rotation. In and out in the time it took to eat a donut and drink a cup of coffee, and read a chapter on my Kindle.

I think you should be getting a free rotation at 5000 miles. Then oil change and rotation at 10k. That is what my dealer told me when I went for my 1k check-up that they don't do anymore.
I couldn't go 10k on the first oil change so I did it myself at 1500 miles. OCD.
I will do the 10k from here out.

I live about 35 miles from my dealer. They came to my house and picked up my 450h and left me a new 350 loaner. They performed the 5000 mile checkup and said the 10,000 mile oil change will be complimentary also.

Anyone know how to clear out the Oil change needed light on the dash?

Do you have Nav? If so you go to setup/vehicle/maintenance. There you enter the info to update the reminder. I noticed you can set the reminder to 10k for the new oil change interval. You can also turn the reminder off, permanently.

That is just setting up another reminder.

To reset the maintenance reminder set the trip/odo button to trip A. Then turn the car off. While pushing and holding the trip/odo button turn the car on, and continue holding the trip/odo button until the maintenance reminder completes its reset.

For clarification: When turning the car on, don't start it... keep your foot off the brake pedal.

Why not just replicate this post in about 65% of the threads here. It'll be just as helpful in every thread.

When holding the Trip A button and foot off the brake, do you press the start button once or twice?

I just put my foot on the brake and hit it once and let it start up.
