Fuel consumption

On the other side, some people say "they get better gas mileage with premium, so it even's out in the wash." "You will void your warranty, you have to use premium"(which I don't believe).
You will have to read up on it and make your own decision. Look for car enthusiast/expert opinions rather than joe shmo off the street opinions.

I use the 89 octane which my dealer said would work fine. I guess the computer adjusts for whatever grade you use.

Hi, I am new to this forum and a soon to be RX350 owner. I expect delivery of my 2010 AWD next week.
I would like to know what your real world fuel consumption is for city driving.
Lexus claims 18 MPG but that sounds very optimitic. My previous ES330 was rated for 21 MPG and rarely passed the 15 MPG mark.
TIA

My 450H averaged 22mpg in January when it was below freezing. Drove to Fla and aveaged 27 mpg. In 60 degree weather did 30+. Back in the Midwest but above freezing doing just under 25. All on regular gas.

I saw something like that before, but don't remember where they're now. I did bookmark another thread last year talking about this... Maybe you guys like to take a look.
I believe Toyota so far only puts Atkinson Cycle engine into RX450h and HS250h.

Looks like 18 + or - is the magic number for fuel consumption.
Putting lower octane rated fuel into the car is really bad. The computer is programed for that octane rating as the minimum octane. If you use less, you will be risking pre detonation in the combustion chamber and ultimately wearing out your engine a lot sooner.
in other words...poop.
never go under the required fuel. i dont see why anyone would even go with regular or mid. you get more mileage and more power out of the premium and in the long run spend less. im happy paying the few extra dollars, just dont get a potato chips next time you make a stop. IDK , im just saying
