The dealer wanted over $300 just for the insert of the grille which is all I really needed. I am awaiting the arrival of one I bought on e-bay, chrome surround and all, for $70 delivered.
I am going to think this one out more carefully before painting this time as I only want to do it once.

Any suggestions or comments? As always I will post pics when done.

Did you install the new grill? How difficult?

I had to make a modification of the chrome surround is all. The old insert just unscrews and has some locking tabs on it. Didn't break any part of it. There is an area where the new mesh insert and the chrome surround come together that requires you to either cut into the chrome surround, which I did, or modify the mesh insert, which I wish I had done.

It is very important when you remove the chrome surround and grille from the car that you pull or push it straight out all at once. If you try to remove it from the top and angle the grille forward leaving the bottom still in place you will break the bottom tabs. There are four tabs at the bottom that slide into the bumper. There are also two tabs on each side and one on each wing tip that slide into the bumper. I lost one of the bottom tabs my first time removing it. It still works and did not create a gap.

Let me know if you need any more advice.

MEP, so are you now going back to the factory style grill ? If so, what are you going to do with the mesh? I don't image you can return it.

JSKennedy and LexusVet, Where are you guys getting your mesh grills? E&G Classics? Are they the only place? Be sure to post some pictures when they are installed!

The e-bay grille came today and I have painted and re-installed it. I will send pics tom.
I liked the mesh, I just like the refinement of the OEM. I will keep the mesh in case I get tired of this one.

The emblem comes right off. You have to pry it off with a putty knife as it is mounted with double sided tape. Make sure you loosen it all away around first as there are a couple of weak areas.

Well, here are a couple of pics. It looks better in person. Maybe should have brought it up a shade or 2 but it looks better than my first attempt.

The last pic is with the emblems gone, so much easier to clean.

I think I like this one better too. I liked the mesh, it just gave the RX a different look, one I wasn't totally happy with it. I think I'm done playing with the grille.

Classy. I think I will do the same with my future 2013 F-Sport RX350
