20" Wheels & Tires on the RX 350 ('09-'10)
I'm thinking of upgrading my new '10 RX to 20" wheels but am a little bit wary...
Questions:
1. How is the ride and tire noise level? I don't want to give up too much of the cushy and quiet ride that I just spent giant dollars for.
2 Would you recommend the tires that you switched to? Do they get good treadwear life?
3. Is the handling greatly, somewhat, slightly improved?
4. Any tire clearance issues?
5. Any Lexus warranty issues to worry about?
6. What did you do with your wheel & tire take-off? Sell or exchange or kept?
6. Bottom line: Would you recommend doing the upgrade?
Anyone out there who has already done the upgrade?
Please post tire brand and size & bragging pics too if you can.
Thanks!

Wheels : 20" Vossen Monoblock VVS082 Black Machined

1. Ride quality is more or less unaffected. Going from 19s to 20s isn't very drastic. Its still very comfy. No idea about noise...the car is noisy by itself highway driving...
2. I skimped on the tires. I work in the construction industry and the risk of driving on a screw or something sharp is very high.
3. I decided on a wider tire as well so I think handling is a little better since there is more contact with the road.
4. No tire clearance issues with the size I went with. The installer basically checked what was the biggest tire he could fit on there and then gave me some options.
5. I've only brought it in for a 5k service and my service adviser didn't say anything about the warranty...only that he like the new wheels. =)
6. I had 3k miles on the original 19s, and I have them in storage right now just in case.
7. Definitely recommend getting new wheels. The RX is one of the most popular cars around, and seeing the same exact car all over the place is annoying. Be a little unique. =P Also in hind sight I probably should have gotten a more aggressive lip on the rear wheels and probably custom offsets for the front and rear wheels. But with my current setup I can rotate them with no problems since they are all identical.

Sorry to hijack the thread. May I know if you're using 20% or 10% for your windows tints? Thanks.

Pretty sure its 20%. But I've been using the same guy to tint my cars for years, and I generally tell him to just match the look of the tint to the rear windows since they are already tinted.

Actually, I destroyed my hybrid transmission on my 400h. I use my RX to haul a cargo trailer a lot for work, and I guess the strain on the hybrid transmission was too great. I was well within the suggested towing capacity, but the car had almost have 70k miles on it as well. The dealer gave me a good trade in value after the warranty repairs, so I decided to get the 350. I wish I got the 450h, but unfortunately trying to find one in Miami is a little difficult, unless you order it.

Looks good with these 20's at stock ride height. No need for bigger lips, if not lowering the vehicle and if not going staggered. This RX really stands out tastefully, well done.

TIRES ARE LITTLE ON THE TALL SIDE. YOU WILL NOTICE A 2-3% OFFON YOUR SPEEDO. PLUS I THINK THE 45s GIVE THE CAR A NICER STANCE. I BELIEVE 275/45/20 WOULD ACTUALLY BE THE PERFECT FIT. BUT GOOD JOB!
