Radio Presets Question
Quick question. When I was test driving the 2010 the other day 1 thing I found a bit odd was the lack of preset buttons on the front of the radio.
With XM, when we are on long drives we constantly switch back and forth between our presets (not necessarily in order like you can do with the steering wheel controls) and we still like to be able to change the presets and see the map at the same time like if we are getting close to an exit but want to change stations without losing the map screen.
It seems a bit odd to me that the only way you can get to the presets is via 2 mouse clicks to go to menu and then audio. I know you can also do voice control but that defeats the purposes of having music on if you have to keep talking to the nice Lexus lady
Am I missing something here with this? I think having to hit the 2 mouse clicks and then use the mouse to move around to the different presets kind of defeats the main idea of the quick access to presets.
Somebody please help me if I'm missing something here.
Thanks!
Jay

Yep, and I expect it lowers productions costs slightly as well.
The new nav is great, but I'm stunned that it doesn't offer the ability to do a split-screen with the full audio info or presets and nav prompts available at the same time. And it's annoying to me to have to go through 2 steps to go from the nav screen to the audio info screen.
Can't have it all I guess

Thanks for confirming. Again, it's not the end of the world and you can press and hold the preset 'selection' button on the steering wheel to scan through the presets but I think that it's a glaring omission that I don't really understand.
I'm sure it's aesthetics and cost but seems a bit of a bad decision.
The good news about technology, though, is that we always learn and adapt to these stupid things (think having to hit the 'Start' button in Windows to shut down). I'm sure we'll get used to it and it won't be such a bother(I hope ).
