Default iPod 30GB? iPhone Yes, and what about 160GB iPod?

I can't get my 30GB iPod (6 years old) to work via the USB port on my RX350 2010. I have iPhone 1st gen that works fine but it only holds 8GB. I agree that searching and scrolling are a pain, but it works.

I have a large collection of about 150GB that I want to put onto a 160GB iPod that I have yet to buy off the apple store. I want to know which iPods work with the car. I assume that the iPod touch and iPhones (all GBs) will work, but what about the older iPods? Specifically the 160GB model.

Could it have anything to do with the fact that I added the music CDs to itunes as apple lossless instead of mp3? I'm thinking not because the car picks up the songs from the iphone.
Thanks, and this is my first post,
Jeff

iPod classic and iPhone touch work fine. iPhone touch now has new software available for $9.95 d/l from itunes giving it Bluetooth. Cheapest route and works well are memory sticks. $15 USB extension cord from Wallmart is a good suggestion for anything that isn't bluetooth. Just pull the cord through the hole into the main box and plug any USB source into it.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I was hoping for something bigger than a flash drive or nano which holds up to 16GB. Has anyone tried with a 120 or 160GB? Apple didn't know if it would work with the rx350 and the lexus dealers didn't know either. I could probably buy it from Apple online, try it, and if it doesn't work, return it, but that wouldn't be fair to Apple.
Thanks,Jeff

Yes, sorry I wasn't clear. I originally bought the 160GB classic and it worked fine as far as the RX '10 is concerned. It wasn't happy with my laptop and Symantec for some reason it wouldn't do the 'eject' procedure on this particular computer and I took it back. The Apple rep I talked to said that was a rare anomaly but did occasionally happen. I'm using the iPod touch now.

Thanks for the update. I'll be getting an iPod classic 160GB this week.

Just a heads up they aren't making the 160gb any longer. The 6th gen is only available in the 120gb version which is a bit slimmer than the 160gb (it's in the old 80gb case).

You can still find the 160gb some places that might have old stock or used, but they're dwindling. I just bought a new 120gb classic a couple of weeks ago (and also own a 160gb).
