RX in 2010? Worth the Wait?

I traded my Yukon Denali XL for a 08 X5 and both were much quieter than the RX. The Yukon was the most silent. The X5 has a little more tire noise than the RX because of the run flat tires but has less wind,traffic and other road noise The Yukon had a lot more drag than the RX but was much quieter at the same speed. The side glass and body panels are much thicker on the Yukon and X5. I feel the RX side glass is to thin and the body panels are like paper. But, the X5 was $14K more than the RX.

I wouldn't touch anything new from Lexus!!
After their corporate "we don't give a *****" about the highly documented transmission problems in the 2004 RX330 I won't buy another Lexus - period!

Honestly, it depends on what you mean by live with it. I lived with it on ours, but I then sold the car as soon as I had a buyer for it. I still would buy another Lexus though, just probably would wait for the 2nd model year to see what issues it has and what solutions Lexus comes up with. I have little issues with my BMW, little issues with my Lexus, little issues with my Acura when I had one so little issues don't bother me, its how its fixed if at all.

Lexus Test Driver
I been in a MB ML and its noiser than the RX on the highway. The X5 is about the same as the RX, but the X5 is a more expensive SUV. The GX is quieter than the X5.

No. I don't remember any specific ticking noise that stood out. Our vehicle; that was given to our team at the factory has been stripped down to an almost bare chassis, so we cannot drive it again. The engine felt more responsive when we did test it out a few weeks ago, that could have been a result of the new 6-speed transmission and/or a power upgrade. We have a small test track located at the factory, its too short to really test it properly.
Compared to the previous models, it does feel quicker but still retains the Lexus soundproof smooth ride.
As for the question about the plastic cover on the engine, it was absent, as were any codes or serial numbers denoting what engine it was.
The photo's and representations of the new RX that are floating around the internet dont look anything like the production model and weren't shot at our manufacturing facility. As far as we were told, there are only 5 production models in North America, 4 are in Canada at our plant, and one is located at TEMA technical center.
When we were driving the vehicle outside the plant, it was wrapped in brown paper for disguise.

Interesting, the higher center console is reminiscent of the LF-Xh concept interior.
But I'm still wondering about this 'joystick' -- have you tried BMW's iDrive? (shudder) Please tell me it's different! Does it look like the device at the bottom of this concept pic?

it has to have more than 275, i think lexus knows that. the last thing we really need is more horsepower and better gas mileage, but the EX and FX, and MDX all blow this car away. lol. i think it will have 290ish. i doubt it will break 300 since they arent really selling this car as a sports SUV in any ways.
chances are, the hybrid variant will have the new 3.5 liter at 270 horses and then added with the electric motor to get 300 plus. I think lexus wants all its hybrid cars to have more power than its regular models.

I hope I dont upset a few people, but some semi-finished engine covers have come in. The engine code 2GR-FE is on them, and that means it is the same 3.5L multiport injection engine as the previous. That doesn't mean they can't bump the power up slightly, but nowhere near the 300hp mark. Sorry to bring the bad news, but on the other hand it gets better mileage than the IS350 engine!
