Default RX 330 - Brightness of Backup Lights

Not sure if this is just my perception or not, but has anyone else noticed that the reverse lights on the RX330 don't seem to be very bright? I especially notice this when I back out of my driveway onto the street (the street isn't very well-lit). It seems as if the reverse lights only add a minimal amount of light to the light cast by tail lights and brake lights, seemingly not enough to really illuminate clearly what's behind the car.

Does anyone know if there might be any brighter replacement bulbs available?

I think that the backup lights are positioned to high and are not aimed/angled to flood the ground. Thats why they are in-effective. I have a Infiniti J30, with the backup lights in the rear bumper, althougt not as bright as the RX's lights, do a much better job of lighting, due to their position and aim.

Funny you should mention about the lights not being aimed at the ground, as I was initially thinking that perhaps it was me not being used to the proportions of an SUV, coming from a sedan, and that the view from the back window was different. In other words, it was just different than what I was used to. Even so, I distinctly recall the reverse lights in my old car being bright enough to make a considerable difference when the reverse lights were on vs. when they were off. Come to think of it, you would think that the high positioning of the reverse lights on the 330 would do a better job at illuminating the area that's visible from the back window just because the lights are high, and so is the back window. I would think that if the lights were aimed low to the ground, that would be the cause of any perceived dimness, as your view out the back window is pretty high.

Hmmm.....

I've noticed the same thing on my 300s. In my opinion Lexus needs much brighter rear lights and maybe some directional mirrors to direct light out and downward.

I think the bulb is bright enough, it's just to high.
