Default What an idiot

So I have my 4 week old RX 330. I'm driving 1000 miles, and the first night out I'm beat. I get the suitcase out of the car, into the hotel. Get the dog out. Go to close the driver's door and slam it on the metal clasp of the dog leash.

It not only chipped the paint off of the driver door, but the back door, too! Crystal white!

The drive door metal got pulled out slightly, too. Oh joy. Couldn't do this again if I tried!

So I called my dealer -- surely the paint shouldn't have come off so easily. After they laughed their butts off they said "good try."

Good news is I have a great body shop and he is going to be reasonable.

Sigh.

Sorry to hear that happened. It frustrating especially when you do it to yourself. I don't like to hear that you were laughed at, I mean really laughed at hard

Reminds me of the time I went to wash my brand-new '79 RX7 for the very first time. I was twenty-something and was SO proud of that spanking new car. To avoid the possibility of getting those nasty brush scratches from a regular automatic wash, I went to one of the do-it-yourself spray car washes. As I was just finishing up, going around the car rinsing off all the suds, I leaned down a little to spray underneath the front bumper. Before I could say, "What the he..." there was a crashing "BOOM!" as the whole ceiling-mounted wash assembly came crashing down from the ceiling, right onto the roof of my (formerly) brand-new sports car!

Eventually, I got the unattended car wash place to pay for the damage, but I remember this whole unfortunate episode like it was yesterday. Despite a pretty serious dent in an unusual place, everything turned out fine, as I'm sure yours will too.

Well, after waiting a week for the body shop to get the touch up paint from Lexus it "repair" is done and it looks like crap. You can really see the "patch."

I'm in Vermont, not anywhere near a Lexus dealer. Guess I'll go to Lexus when I return to Florida and get a quote from the dealer. I'm sure the whole door will have to be redone (back door damage was very slight and the dab of paint there is not noticable).

Crap.
