A/C Charge Port Caps
2008 RX 350
Is there something non industry standard about the air conditioning charging ports? I stupidly managed to lose both of them--dropping them somewhere unrecoverable. (And had no reason but curiosity to take the cap off the H port anyway). I've now tried two different aftermarket replacements and none seem to fit. One was from some guy selling on eBay; the other pair came from an auto parts store.
Certainly the outer quick-connect part of the L port matches ordinary R134a hoses. Is there something odd about the internal threads that a cap engages?
In the meantime I am keeping them spotless by putting aluminum tape over them.

Apparently, good things happen when you post here, even if you don't get an answer.
This morning I stumbled upon the LP cap, where it had rolled into the dirt off the driveway.
Here is what I see. From top to bottom, OEM, eBay, Autozone. It may not be easy to see here but in person it's pretty obvious that the inner part (with external threads that engage the internal threads of the charge port) is larger on the OEM. That inner part also stands up taller when positioned like this (reaching deeper into the port). I can't get calipers down in there but holding the tips to it it seems like it's almost a mm larger.

Maybe you can tell me where the low pressure port is. Have an 09 but an 08 might be in the same place. Posted the query in another post. Getting some traffic, but no one knows the answer.
