Hi,

I'm about to service the car and got stuck with choosing oil to the trasferebox and diff .

Toyota/Lexus in sweden uses Castrol Syntrax , but i dont know if i have Limited slipdiff or not,,

The oil i'm about to purchase is Castrol Syntrax Limited Slip 75W-140 ,

I used Mobil 1 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube on both transfer case and rear diff without issue. It has been almost 5K miles since the fluid change.

At what mileage or how often am I supposed to change the oil on both the transfer case and rear differential?.
How do I know if i have Limited slip diff or not.

My mechanic told me that every 30K mile should be sufficient for the rear differential and transfer case. The front differential, if my memory is right, is the same as the transmission fluid, which get a 30Ku drain and refill every 25-30K miles.

But i have to know if i have LSD,
So i can choose right oil,
every brand has LSD & Non LSD oil

The 2nd generation RX was not available with a limited slip differential. The recommended oil rating is 80W-90 (commonly referred to as 80 90 weight) gear oil for both the transfer case and rear differential. The recommended oil rating and capacities should be in the back of your vehicles Owner's Manual. Should be 1.0 quart each if I remember correctly.

The recommended interval for changing the transfer case and rear differential oil is 90-100K miles, according to my local dealer. I believe the owner's manual specifics 100,000 miles if I remember correctly. I change mine out at every 30K miles as cheap insurance, so to speak.

The front differential is lubricated with the transmission fluid. The transmission fluid is shared between the transmission and the front differential, so follow the recommended service intervals for the transmission fluid for that.

The transfer case is located between the front and rear differentials. Simply put, it is what splits power between the front and rear.

I am going to make the time to get under the car to see what tools I need to replace the transfer's case and rear differential's oil as I am pushing 93K miles.
