Hey folks,

Canadian newbie here with my 2nd post. Actually it's a redo. I accidental posted in the 3rd gen forum . I got redirected here.

We bought an '09 350 last fall. It came with winter tires. Those were installed shortly after bringing it home and the original Michelin Energy tires were toast so they got tossed. I'm going to have to remove the winter tires soon, so am looking for advice/experiences from other owners on summer rubber choices.

Although I'm in a border city, the recent decline in the CAD and rise in the USD have pushed US prices out of reach. I've been buying from Tire Rack for years, saving me thousands. Not so anymore. Canadian prices, although much higher than those in the US (in local dollars), are now, in most cases when converted to CAD, competitive with the US prices. It hasn't been like that for a very long time. We're on a budget so $1k per set choices are off the table. For U.S. readers, add about 40% to US prices and you'll get a sense of the prices I'm looking at.

Example: 4 Pirelli Scorpion Verde from Tire Rack are $610 USD incl shipping to my US shipping address. That's $950 CAD after exchange & taxes at the border and local installation. The best local price I can find is just over a $1000 CAD all in.

Having done some window shopping and review reading, I'm looking at Continental TrueContact or General Altimax RT43 tires. I can get the Continentals for $660 (on sale this week) and the Generals for $610 CAD, locally, all in. Those are passenger tires rate 102T whereas the OE Michelin Energy tires were 101S.

When I look at Tire Racks listing of Crossover/SUV tires, prices of highest rated tires rise to $850 CAD and over. But why run those when the OE tires were passenger tires? My priorities are comfort, noise, wet traction. As mentioned earlier, there's no need to winter traction as I already have winter rubber.

Any advice you may have would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia are my latest tire of choice for my last two SUV tire purchases. Quiet on the highway and they get me through Cleveland winters.

Your call to make. I usually seem to like Michelin but I didn't care for the OE tires so I didn't use them as a benchmark. I have no experience with the tires in your OP. We had the originals and then replaced them with the Parada Spec X but our priorities sound like they were slightly different from yours. We don't put a lot of miles on our cars so it will be some time before we try another set of tires.

Tire Rack does allow you to filter reviews so you can use those in addition to prior threads. The odds of finding someone with experience with all the tires you've mentioned and identical priorities/preferences is going to be slim to none IMO.

I have Goodyear Forteras on my RX. I use winter tires too. On the Forteras I have 90k Kms with half of the tread left before the wear bars.
For a long lasting tire I'm very impressed and they are a touch louder than the stock Michelins it came with

+1 for Ecopia....Costco got them and they always have the $70 off (Set of 4)

Might save you some money if you drive to the US and get it done?

Bridgestone makes at least 4 Ecopia tires in a 17-inch tire. I have used the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia in both a 17 and 18 inch and these are SUV tires. Some of the Ecopia branded tires are passenger car tires. Just something to be aware of if you want Ecopia.

put in Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia in 9/2011 when it first got out. It's pretty good, but now 26k miles past, it's worn down to 5/32" according to AT store. I felt it's worn out faster than it should be.
Normal mixed freeway/local driving in CA, 07 RX350 AWD. Does it sound about right?

The store told me the Alenza Plus is now a 80k mi warranty tires. The prev set I had before the Ecopia was the original Alenza, it worn out about 40k miles on 07 RX350 AWD.

I am also looking for a new set, and would like to try another brand/model.

The best SUV tires I had was Michelin LTX M/S in 2000 RX300 AWD. Best tire ever, lasted me 90k mi seriously no joke. Too bad they dont make it in 235/55/18.
