Default Ideas for a Rain Sensor mod?

So ever since I got my RX, one of my biggest annoyances was that the rain sensor is not heated. Whenever I pull into a warm garage and the windshield fogs up, or if the wipers make those fog like streaks, the rain sensor thinks its raining and makes the wipers go crazy. This never happened in my BMW because the sensor is heated so that the windshield won't fog in that area and the sensor works so much more accurately.

So now I want to figure out a way to either heat the sensor on the RX or heat the windshield around that area. So far my best idea is by heated film that you place in motorcycle handle bars to heat the grips. But I am looking for other ideas that might work better.

Below is the layout of a Mercedes rain sensor which might give an idea of what I am trying to accomplish.

Yeah the RX rain sensor can at times be a head scratcher in the way it works.

Not sure if you are looking for any other ideas but something that has been on a mind has to do with the rear wiper. Wouldn't it be fun to have that as an auto sensor as well so that you don't have to manually do it (given that you only really need to wipe it once or twice).

I really am just trying to figure out what I should use. I have never done anything with any type of heating element. I basically just need to heat the glass to about 80ºF.

As for the back window, you could use this aftermarket one. I used to have the same one when I had my Prius and it worked just as well as the OEM one in our cars. http://www.raintracker.com

I am not trying to be a smart --- here but wouldn't it be easer to just turn them off when that happens .

That defeats the purpose of them being automatic.
