Default RX400 Air Vents Won't Click Down

I cannot for the life of me figure out why these air vents will not lock down. No matter how hard I push down, they will not lock. Check out the pictures, if this doesn't make sense. Notice the driver-side vent is perfect. Have any of you had issues with this? Thanks!

Stays elevated and won't click down.

Taking the air vent piece off.

Same thing with the windshield defroster.

Lifting up the defroster.

The driver-side.

Your dashboard looks like it was re-covered with new vinyl. Was it? If so, that would explain why they won't push down since there isn't enough clearance. If it was re-covered I am guessing it was because it was cracking which means you can get a new dashboard this summer for free.

We just bought it, so I can't say for sure if it was recovered. I did just have it detailed, so could it be that? What makes it look like it was recovered, and why would I get a new dashboard for free? Thanks!

Haven't had much luck finding an photo online of what it should look like so far. Yours may have not been recovered but the fit and finish is definitely way off.

Got ya. So it could be that it just needs to be recovered. Thanks!

Yeah that doesn't look right at all. I agree that it was probably recovered at some point in time.

No...Don't get it re-covered. The previous owner already did that and it looks bad. Wait till this summer and take it to lexus. Show them that it has been re-covered (I can almost guarantee it was because it was cracking). Tell them that you had it recovered because it was cracking and they will replace your entire dashboard for free under warranty.
