'05/'06 RX 350 key
Hey guys
I never thought I'd have to do this but my mom drives either an '05 or '06 RX 350 but both of her keys snapped at the head on the plastic. We were quoted $250 if we were to purchase the key and program through the dealership and ~120 if I were to go purchase an aftermarket key and have a third party company program the key for us (prices is for one key only I believe). Do you guys know of any third party companies out there that does this? Again, I've never had to do this before and would really appreciate it if you guys could help me (and my mom mostly) out.

If you have your key code the best way to go is with 1010keys on eBay. They will cut the key for you. You then move the electronics (transponder) from the broken keys to the new ones. The key code can be found on the credit card key Lexus provided when new. A Lexus dealership could also provide the key code.

Or if you are a bit lazy, go to Sewell and you can get yourself a new set. You will need to submit proof of ownership. VIN has to be sent. There are options on what you want on keys. Plus get the CL discount.

I need a new key but I am debating between EBay and Sewell, I have my key code handy in case it is needed. If I get Ebay's it will be under $20 bucks, but I will have to move the transponder which is not big deal, I have a background in electronics.

You are going to want to move the transponder either way...otherwise you will have to pay $60 dollars to have the new remote and transponder programmed to the car. And a background in electronics is not necessary. moving the remote and transponder from one key to another is easier than changing the battery in the remote.
