Did you call Keyes Lexus in Van Nuys to check on the replacement of your dashboard?.

While the above is correct, it is not possible with many dealers. I contacted both of our local dealers and neither would do anything about this yet. They said to call back in May. I asked if they could start a waiting list and was told no.

I am sorry to hear that. At least my local Lexus Dealer has a service list and has started ordering replacement dashboards. When units arrive they are going to call customers on the list to get the dashboards replaced.

Default Thinking about paying for the dashboard and then getting reimbursed by Lexus

Hello -

Just wanted to see if anyone has actually been called about the replacement dashboard being available or had a dashboard replaced since the notice was issued.

About a month before the notice was issued, I took my RX-350 with only hairline cracks into the dealer to have the dashboard replaced under an extended warranty that was about to expire. Lexus replaced the dashboard and picked up 100% of the cost.

I also have an RX-330 (severely cracked dashboard) and am being told that the parts won't be in until August at the earliest]. My dealer is not keeping a list, but told me to call back periodically.

I am wanting to give the RX-330 to a relative. Any thoughts on paying for the replacement dash and then getting reimbursed by Lexus? It's not really credible that there are no dashboards currently available. As I said, I was able to get a replacement for another vehicle weeks before the notice was issued.

Thanks in advance for the help.

There is a similar thread going on at the IS second gen forum here on the CL. I think I read that a member had actually paid to get his dash done by a mechanic and he was 100% refunded by Lexus after showing proof via receipt. Lexus sent a check back for the amount paid.

Thanks for the info. It looks like the person you are referring to paid for the dashboard before the notices were sent, but it does give me some hope. And now to place a call to my service representative ...

Spoke with my service representative who said there is a stop order on parts and he can't get the dashboard even if I pay for it. I didn't push him that hard because I try to maintain a good relationship with him, but suspect he's not really trying to fix my problem.

To update my post from 3/16, our dealer said to call back today or later. I talked to our service contact and he said the parts are delayed at least 6 weeks, but they are starting a list and we're on it.
So overall I guess that's progress.

I called my local Lexus dealer here in CA, (Keyes Lexus), to inquire about the timeline to replace the dash. I was told over the phone the parts are a bit delayed but I am on the list. They said to call back in about 6 weeks or so. If they parts show up sooner than that, they are going to call me back.

so i contacted the dealer here in hong kong...and they told me there is no such recall. They have not been notified by Lexus and if i have a Recall ID from Lexus that i can reference.

I have no idea how to get in touch with lexus corporate as the whole Lexus/Toyota name and dealers are owned by Crown Motors, a third party.

Thumbs down Lexus of Melbourne Sucks

I've called multiple times and gotten pissed off every time I've called. Finally had my fiancee call as she gets along with everyone. She hung up and said they were the rudest people she's ever spoken to and will NEVER buy a Lexus again. They say no parts available, expect them in July, and they then plan to do 2 a week. They'll start with one model, and then work their way to the RX's.

It's not a recall per se. It is referred to as a Warrenty Enhancement Notification - ZLD . The ZLD is the number if you will. You can call Lexus at 1-800-255-3987 for details and to see if you're on the list of in scope owners.

I called yesterday and asked to speak to a specialist under option 2. They agreed some dealerships suck. But here's the skinny:

Lexus/Toyota actually opened or tooled new factories to produce these dashboards. They have 2 phases to the enhancement program. Phase 1 is paying back people who have already had a replacement. Some dealerships may be doing the work and billing Lexus directly, other people may be buying a dash and waiting to be reimbursed. There's a chance Lexus may refuse reimbursement if the claim isn't perfect.... YMMV, again, this is what I was told.

Phase 2 is a full blown bring it in and we'll replace it free. Those dashes are starting to be shipped from overseas and should be on the ground in July. While some ES owners are already being notified, the rest of us are still in phase 1. Once the letter comes in (expected by end of July/August) then it will be wide open for replacement. I was told that I could contact another dealer once I had the letter and try for better service. Again, YMMV,

I talked to my dealer today and the parts are delayed again. He said they should be in by the end of July, and since I'm near the top of his list I should get a call at that point.

As of 2 weeks ago, my dealer still had no RX dashboards. He said that the ES (I'm pretty sure -- could have been IS) dashboards were in, but they were only getting around 3 per week from Lexus. The gist of his comment was that, even when the RX dashboards come in, it will be a slow process for everyone waiting.
