I'm buying tires at Sam's Club and thought I wanted the Michelin Pilot MXM4 99V - BUT the guy says the Premier tires have a longer wear warranty and are less expensive.
I remember reading up on tires a lot and deciding the MXM4 were the ones to get but now I'm confused. My main requirement is QUIET over all else. Sport tires will surely be firmer and louder.
Just second guessing myself - the Premiere are cheaper/worse - or no?
We had the MXM4 on our Prius and they got loud after they got old. Also consider the Latitude Tour which is one of the tires that comes on the newer RXs. I find them to be very quiet even in old age (~50k miles).
I notice all the above tires are V rated. Your tire shop may be using that to limit your choices to what came with the RX. 149 mph V rated seems excessive for a SUV that probably will never see 100 mph.
I have michelin primacy mxv4 on my wife's RX330, came with them when we got it this year. They seem to wear good, quiet, good in rain. Not good in snow so far. Not terrible, but my GS with Continental Pure Contact is much better.
I wouldn't pay that much for a Michelin tire, they aren't worth that much. I like the Conti Pure Contacts for almost half that price at Tire Rack.
I have had great results from the tires I have bought for my GS at TireRack.
The Conti Pure Contacts are awesome. Unfortunately tires at Sams are pretty limited selection and sizes. Couldn't even get tires for my GS there at all.
I recently purchased Continental Pure Contact tires for my 2005 RX330. Good handling in dry and wet road conditions but they're much noisier than I expected so I'm not sure if I'll keep them (vendor has a no hassle replacement policy). Looking at the Michelins but also not sure which one to buy.
Mine are 245 45 17's (on my GS400), mine are very quiet. What size do you have? Wonder if the wider rubber is quieter? I know as it gets wider the pattern changes some.

While I can't speak to Michellins- I can vouch for the Continentals control contacts all weather purchased from America's tire for being quiet, excellent handling in wet weather, and good grip on my IS convertible. More importantly trustworthy as its my wife daily driver and picks up our daughter in them. I've lightly flung that car around and it has solid grip.
The Goodyear Assurance "comfort" is not quiet but otherwise in this weeklong rain we've had they have performed excellent on the RX.
I only mention those just in case your still doing comparisons. Good luck on your choice whatever you choose.
I recently went through the same process and narrowed it down to the Michelin Pilot MXM4 99V within the Michelin brand. I then narrowed it down to the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia within their lineup. I went with the Bridgestone based on a previous good experience with them.
Michelin tires are more expensive than others, but I have had nothing but great experiences with the ones I have owned.
If your heart is set on Michelins, I would have gone with the Pilot MVM4's myself.
I'm leaning towards getting the Michelin Premier A/S. The one concern I have, based on several reviews, is that these tires are really loud on coarse pavement/concrete roads. Most tires probably will be louder on that type of surface though. Will keep searching the reviews...
