And the new struts (Strongarm 6135 - which BTW are indeed listed for both the 07 and 08) had bracket ends that snap over the ***** on the Lexus brackets. My only suggestion for those replacing these by yourself is to prop up with a ladder as many have suggested AND add additional spacers as necessary to raise the lid just enough so you can easily press the strut brackets ends into the metal *****. After ordering, I received a Strongarm video that said for most applications the supports are mounted with the metal shaft down. But on my 07 the metal shaft were up and so that's how I mounted the new struts. So far, so good.

Strong Arm struts are very good. If you are having a problem with the rear hatch screwing up, join the club. Mine still screws up after replacing struts/CPU. You just have to live with it and make sure it doesn't take your head off. It seems the problem is weather related in my case....

I purchased the StrongArm 6127 struts in December 2015 and had no problem installing them, but they do not last much past 2 years. I purchased mine in Dec 2013 and they no longer keep the lift gate from slamming shut. I have to manually lift the gate to its full position. I also purchased the StrongArm trunk lifts 6415 for my LS around the same time and they are also failing. I would look for a different brand. Anyone have another brand that last longer than 2 years?

I purchased the Strongarm 6135 for my 2007 in April 2015 from Amazon for 55$. Installation was easy. but I occasionally have problems with the struts. Sometimes they open with a real clunk at the end (as if they are too strong). But in cooler weather they sometimes fail to open (like my old original struts). Hopefully when it gets even cooler here this winter in NJ I will not have even more frequent problems. I may have missed this but does anyone know who is the OEM supplier of these for Lexus?

We are going on about 1 1/2 years for ours and no problems with the units failing (as of yet).

We do experience an issue where the struts kind of bounce as they reach the top of the opening, but for the price difference, I just deal with it.

Also, I know it is a pain to go through the process, but they have a lifetime warranty and with the quick release feature, it should be a very easy swap out process.

Today, with NJ temps in my garage at around 45F, my 9-month old Strongarm struts failed to open the rear hatch. I've sent their US rep an email with proof of sale since the warranty is 12 months, so let's see how they respond . Will keep you informed.

The Strongarm struts have a limited lifetime warranty. I had an issue with a bracket (due to my installation) and they were very helpful.
