2008 RX 350 Extended Warranty Expiring
I hope this question is not too broad ...
My 2008 RX 350 with 103,000 miles will be out of warranty the first week of December. The car was a certified used car, and I have the car serviced at the Lexus dealership that I purchased it from.
Before the warranty expires, I will be scheduling an appointment to have the dealer fix the memory buttons for the driver's seat because they will no longer set. Are there any known problem areas that I should ask them to inspect?
Recently the dealer did replace the dashboard when it developed a hairline crack (for free under the warranty), but I have a 2004 RX 330 with a dashboard that looks like a jigsaw puzzle so I knew what was coming down the road.
Thanks for any advice you may have. I keep thinking I should have things checked before the warranty expires, but I'm not knowledgeable enough about these cars to know what.

Welcome to Club Lexus lrh512. Simply have the dealership do a complete inspection of the vehicle. Warranty issues don't come out of their pocket so dealerships are happy to do it. Some vehicles get steering rack or coolant leaks have those checked. Also the coolant should have been replaced at 100K but that is a maintenance and not a warranty issue.

Hello again -
I just called my dealership and was told that they are not allowed to schedule a warranty inspection. If I have specific problems, then they'd be happy to look at those problems. But they cannot go looking for problems that would be covered by the warranty.
I then asked to speak to my service consultant, and he was a little more wishy washy and tried to convince me in so many words that it would be a waste of time because if the car had a problem, then I would know it or the problem would have turned up during our regular service appointments.
Any advice? I'm tempted to take it to an independent shop but the only one I've ever used was recently sold and razed to make way for development.
Thanks.

I guess it depends on the dealership. CPO warranty may be handled differently. In 2013 my Lexus was in for the 60K service at Lexus of Santa Barbara. They performed a complete inspection and found a leaking water pump and a leaking transmission gasket. Both were replaced at no charge under the powertrain warranty. They also found power steering fluid leaking from the preload tensioner nut on the rack and pinion assembly. I had to pay $134 to have that one fixed.

Tell them the front end feels loose on bumps. They will inspect the front control arms and see that the bushings are worn and replace them. My dealer was kind enough to change mine just before my Lexuscare warranty ended. Drives like a new Lexus now.
