After 6 years it was time to trade in our RX400h before we crossed the 100000 mile mark and end of the extended warranty. So, we've just driven home in a fully-optioned 2015 Lincoln MKC.

Why? you might ask. No one big reason. We chose partially based on size, and decided that the RX SRX etc were bigger than we needed and MKC-sized vehicles were what we wanted. We never even looked at the under-equipped ones like the RDX, X3 & Q5. Drove the MKC for a couple of days and really liked it. I'm not saying the air conditioned seats made the sale, but they helped.

We might have waited to look at the NX, but it had a couple of disadvantages. Lexus is clearly trying for sporty and edgy, and we're more luxury and comfort folks. Neither of us particularly like the looks of Lexi lately, and the NX is certainly championing that look. Another issue is that the in-town Lincoln dealer has a good reputation. We're over an hour away from the nearest Lexus dealer (the one we vowed never to go back to), and the good one is even further away -- 90 minutes plus if you have to ride there in the Rollback taking the car in when undriveable.

So, thanks to all who posted helpful information through the years. This has been an excellent forum. I've contributed a bit with the roof rack removal process. (The original kit's for sale, along with a couple crossbars). Good luck to all, and again, Thanks.

Cheers! I wish you well in your new ride and hope you get many a miles from it. I understand perfectly about dealership and they have to know they are shooting themselves in the foot by turning off customers with their service. Anyway good luck!

Dealership experience is the deal breaker for me. I have a Focus as a daily commuter and have so far been to 2 Ford/Lincoln stores. Atrocious is the only way to describe the service experience and that's for the minor things (oil changes, tire swaps). Seeing as the same back shop works on Fords and Lincolns, I will not put out $50K plus and get the same shabby treatment. Will be sticking to Lexus when we decide to replace our '09 RX. And will not buy a Ford again; even though family works at an assembly plant. Had enough.

Did do an overnight drive of the MKC. Was OK, not thrilling. Mileage was on par with our RX, even though it's a smaller turbocharged 4. Passing power was lacking. Lots of toys. Was noisier than expected. Wife was not overly impressed either. Size is good, though.

We saw the NX (F) at a dealer preview earlier this month. Not interested in the F Sport kitsch; hopefully the regular 200T will look a little less boy racer. Either that or we'll see how the 16 RX fares.
