Body side molding replacement

Body side molding replacement
The side moldings on my 08 rx 350 need replacement. I've sourced new ones from Sewell parts. My question is, how do the existing ones come off? Are they put on with double sided tape? Body plugs? How do I remove them. Thanks in advance.

I replaced my 05 RX330 moldings, They use double stick tape as well as body plugs (just to line them up). Start peeling away slowly from one end, when you reach the plugs, they are there just to line it up, not hard to come out. Once the moldings are removed, clean the car of all excess tape (this could take awhile, depending on how much gets left on the car), and if you choose... clean and wax the area before applying the new moldings. You will notice on the new moldings the double stick tape and new plugs, peel off tape backing and line up all the plugs before applying pressure to the molding. Pretty easy job, if I remember the hardest part was cleaning off all the old tape from the door panel.

I own a body shop and I would suggest repairing the ones you have . Have a shop leave them on the car mask them off , repair the nicks and scratches and repaint . It wont be quite as durable as new ones but would be far less money . side note if you take them off and put back on they never stay on as good as new ones do .that's why I suggested leaving them on the car to repaint . Around here I would charge about 275.00 to repair and paint .
