Default RX330 Reverse Light Tap in Cab?

Hi Guys,

I installed a reverse camera, but didn't realize I should have ran an extra wire from the reverse light to the head unit (camera works, H/U just doesn't get a signal car is no longer in reverse and stays in reverse camera mode). I was wondering if there is any easy way to connect into a reverse signal somewhere in the cab, preferably around the head unit/dash area. I wasn't able to find any schematics and nothing on the forums other than I should have run the cable right he first time. If there is no easy fix, I will just pull the panels off and run the wire, but if there is an easy "cheat" I'd prefer that.

2006 RX330 with Pioneer NEX8000

Thanks for any information!

Best source of information on such things is at:

https://techinfo.toyota.com/

Cost is $15 for two days.

I use the same site for all my info. It will tell you the exact location and the exact wire to use. Without using the site I can't tell you exactly what wire but I can say that you can find a reverse light wire in the drivers side kick panel near the emergency brake. That will at least get you a little closer to the head unit.

I saw there was a fuse panel under the driver dash, will see if I can find a reverse wire behind that (only saw tail, I assume that is for all the lights in the rear).

www.autozone.com actually has free service manuals, I think this might work as it has the entire reverse wiring diagrams.

Also was able to find some bootleg copies of the service manual for $20.00, this seems illegally easier than paying $15 for only 2 days.

Thanks for the info guys.

Reverse wire is in the driver's kick panel, green to red, in the gray 20 pin plug. test with a multimeter to confirm.

Not behind the fuses....The kick panel is the panel to the left of the E brake.

Thanks again dude, I spent way too many hours looking and you just gave me the answer, found the wire on the 3rd poke with the multimeter. Couldn't wait so I went back to work and got my stuff. Everything works great. Here is a picture of the wire for anyone who makes this same mistake as me.

It's also available at the rear view mirror for those that are installing a rear view monitor mirror. In the standard mirror it un-dims the electrochromic mirror when backing up.
