Default Is this part of the steering Rack? Does it look like yours?

HI guys just got a 2005 Lexus RX330
Noticed the steering rack is leaking. Was replaced by lexus in 2012 and I see the boot is destroyed.

But I also noticed this inside the cabin. It look as though it should be higher up and attached to something. Can someone check their RX and see if their boot is low down like mine in the cabin.

thanks in advance

thats the drivers side pop out cupholder. Yes, yours must be jammed. You just push on it and it slides out. Here's a picture of mine.

I'm on the drink holder. Probably the lower hinged part that didn't lock up to the upper and is now causing it to jam like a file drawer when one file popped up. Just press it as far as possible and hold it while tapping it with something soft like plastic and release. Sticking things like a putty knife in, can wait for a last ditch attempt. Can also be that somebody closed it with something like a sweet wrapper in it You don't want gouging marks there or breaking something, which can cause a rattle and Lexus charges for that kind of trim, if not telling you that you must buy the whole facia.
I don't use mine often. Seems a bit flimsy to hold a Coke in the first place and it tends to catch on your knee when getting out of the vehicle. Not a good design, I can just imagine a motoring mag scribe will spend an A4 on badmouthing it.

Did you ever get your cup holder unstuck?

Yep used a small flat head screw driver.
But if I push it back in, it get stuck again. I guess the spring mechanism is gone.
I just leave it out a bit so I can get to it
