Made a screen for my sunroof of my 330
I am planning on doing some light SUV camping this year and I wanted a screen for my sunroof that will be temporary, not tear stuff up, stowable and cheap.
I made this for $20 using screen from walmart and back-side sticky velcro. I only used the 'hook' side of the velcro and cut the screen and put the sticky back of the velcro onto the screen so that the hooks of the velcro 'hook' into the headliner.
I don't worry about it tearing up the headliner, because I anticipate using it maybe 3-4 times the entire year. If I was going to take it on and off repeatedly, I'd be more concerned, but I'm not.
Now I can leave the sunroof open / crack and not worry about bugs in my car as I sleep or hike! wahoo!

Good idea. Will have to keep it in mind if I should ever need it.
Have slept in the back of my RX330 on numerous occasions with the rear seats folded down. Throw a comforter down as a base to sleep on and go from there as temperatures dictate. Have not tried this in the heat and humidity of the summer though and have never felt the need to open the sunroof in doing such. Cannot sleep if it is too hot and humid at night, so I would be looking for a hotel room in those conditions. Roughing it for me these days is a Holiday Inn.
When I was young it was not unusual for a friend and I to head to NJ from PA on the weekends to the beaches where we had friends working there during the summer. We had good paying jobs at the mill during the summers, so we only got the chance to go to the beach on the weekends. Was not unusual for us to sleep in whichever vehicle we took. In those days you could prop a pillow up on one door, stretch out across the front or rear bench seat, and your feet would not touch the door on the other side.

Thanks! Yeah, this was more for the once in while thing and I also just had a hair-brained idea I wanted to try out. Best clean fun I've had for $20 in a long time! Ha!
I, too, prefer a hotel or a cabin, but I'd also like to be able to keep the sunroof cracked if I'm out fishing or whatever and it's a gillion degrees out (my RX is also black and I live in the South).
That said, I intend to camp IN it tomorrow night over in the blue ridge mountains.

This time of year it might be nice. Last time I did it was when I was working at the track during a 24 Hours of Daytona race a few years back. Was more convenient than driving out to a hotel room during breaks in the action. Been there in freezing cold, torrential rains, and dense fog.

Well, I'm happy to report it worked out quite well. The velcro even stood up to 70mph with the sunroof open completely driving down the interstate. I removed it from the headliner and you can't even tell it was there. It should roll up and store away for next time!
