400h 2005 front parking assistance
Hi
Looking for used RX.
Has there been parking assistance (not sure what it's called officially) available in front, or is this aftermarket installation? In the picture you can see the small "radars" in front bumper.

I think the OP is actually correct.
The car in that pic has four small round caps which pretty sure are for parking sensors.
Afaik, Lexus never offered them as a factory option on 2nd gen RX, but at least in Europe the dealers network installed many of them, also on brand new cars.
In which case they became a sort of OEM installation (covered by warranty, etc.).
I've seen them on various RX around here, but mine doesn't have them, so I don't know how exactly they worked.
I guess with just an audible warning.

Hi, this pic is from finnish used car -site. Not sure if the car is originally from finnish market, could be imported from central europe which is quite common here. Thanks for your replies anyway. I'm quite confident those are parking sensors, they are visible also in the rear in another pic. This model also has the camera so even my wife should be able to park this

Hey Vinnie...I installed rear sensors on mine when I bought it and just a few weeks ago I installed them on the front. I used Cobra Parkmaster because they work the most like factory sensors. In fact...Cobra is the manufacturer for a lot of sensors that companies use OEM. Cobra also just revised their front parking sensors to have a speed wire input so they only activate at low speed, just like OEM front parking sensors on newer lexus' or BMW's. They are only available for purchase in foreign markets though, so you will have to buy them from ebay or amazon.

Also, any experience in colder temperatures?

From what I have found from the company I like, they only make the 8 sensor (front and rear) kits for OEM applications. The after market kits are separate for the front and rear. The rear kit activates with the reverse gear and will stay on for a few seconds after shifting out of reverse (good for parallel parking). The front kit activates when the vehicle is at low speeds and when you shift into reverse. Both kits have the ability to mute the stereo. As far as colder temps...Not so much. Portland only gets down to a bout the 20s.
