Default 2008 RX 350 Power Steering Assembly Replacement

I own a 2008 RX 350 with 90,000 miles on the odometer. I just went into the Lexus dealer who said I needed a $1500 power steering assembly replacement as the boots were cracked and oozing. He stated you have to replace the entire assembly as you can't simply replace the boots. Any insight on this matter?

That is correct as a boot wont fix the actual leak. That being said dont feel as if you have to replace the rack immediately. I have driven mine with this issue for 30k miles. Also search online for remanufactured rack and also look into independent mechanics.

reman aftermarket rack is cheapest bet- dont gamble your safety on running your steering dry
