There are plenty of RX around and new ones become available for purchase all the time. If you do not see something which tells you to buy, walk away and wait for another to come around. You may have to wait a bit if you are too choosy, however, if you are willing to compromise there will be plenty to choose from.

I definitely don't think I'm being too choosy. I'm just a mom who wants to make sure I'm buying something safe for my son and also something that I'm going to be happy with for many years.

I like the sounds of the one you mentioned that just came available. Anything under 100k miles won't last long, so if you think you'd like it, I'd suggest trying it out quick. Well, I say that, but I suppose it can vary per market. I know I was going to try out a 2008 at the local Lexus dealership, and the salesman didn't even know it had already sold, b/c it hadn't been on the lot a couple of days as it was. When we got our 2007 RX, we had just tried out a few other vehicles at the same dealership, and this one had just been traded in. We tried it out the next day, and bought late that evening.

I sure hope I don't have to worry about the NAV going bad. When I bought ours, I didn't think about it being tied into so much, nor did I have a clue on replacement/repair costs, which should guess high. However, so long as it keeps going, I'm not worried about it. I know it's really nice to have for accessing all the different details about the car.

Thanks for the advice Kjv, I don't know much about the nav system and all it controls. What does it do other than nav and the back up camera?

Default I have a 2004 RX330 that has had ZERO problems(95K). Battery lasted just over 10 year

Best car I've ever owned and the factory battery didn't die until just months ago (Duracell). LOVE my car and never had such a trouble free car. And I mean zip!

2004 RX 330 with 121,000 miles. Black with navigation, etc. Private seller asking $9200 obo.
2005 RX 330 with 95,825 miles. Dark blue/gray, no fancy extras. Dealer asking $11,999.
2008 RX 350 with 119,000 miles. Silver, no fancy extras. Dealer asking $12,995.

Which one would you pursue? Would you buy from a private seller or go through the dealer and get a warranty? Is there a big difference in the 2004 and 2008 technology? What would you consider a reasonable offer on each of these vehicles? Would you even consider purchasing a 10 year old Lexus? I'm looking for something I can keep for many years. Any advice is welcome!

I know this is a LITTLE late... Sorry - haven't checked back here in apparently a long long time..

The NAV setup is nice in that it integrates with all your controls. Of course, the CON there is that if it goes, then your control for almost everything goes as well... well, the radio/dvd player would still work, but the climate controls - heat and a/c won't work independently... well, best I can tell anyway. And from what others have mentioned in other threads, that part can get quite expensive to replace/repair.

I wish the lady (jsellers81) had posted back as to what vehicle she bought. I hate it when someone asks for advice and never posts back with the outcome.
