Default Looking at a used 330. Is nav/back up camera a must have?

I've been narrowing down a used RX330 and have seen a few with and without the Nav/Back up camera. Besides those features, is there anything else that it comes with that I should take into consideration?
I probably don't need the Nav as I use my smartphone for Maps.
I'm wondering if the Back up camera is worth getting. Also the upgradeability of the stereo with and without the Nav system.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have Nav and honestly the old Lexus/Toyota Nav sucks. If I were you I would get one without Nav and replace the stereo with an aftermarket unit that has a backup camera and bluetooth and all that jazz. I would do that with mine but I think it looks awkward when there are two screens on the dash.

agree. OEM Nav never really got good in any car until 2010+ cars. I just bought an Alpine 920HD unit I plan to install in my wife's RX when it gets above 10 ******n degrees. So my suggestion is buy a car without nav, camera and mark levinson system as you can add a better system than OEM

Yeah... screw the nav... its very handy but updates are $250+.
Use your GPS.

Botton line, its a great reliable car. You couldn't go wrong even with the base model.

But in the same breath, so is a Highlander.

Just buy a Lexus/Toyota.

The nav on my '05 330 is the most user UNfriendly I've ever used. The pixel matrix is coarse and display washes out with a hint of sunlight. DVD upgrades are in the $160 range. Set up is NOT intuitive. By contrast, my iPhone is a cinch-just tell Siri to take you to (address) and it's done.
When backing up, the camera gives you a great view of the rear bumper which is useful for avoiding kid's tricycles and sleeping dogs, and it helps in parking, but is not to be trusted where full rearward vision is required.
Long story short, the bells & whistles give you bragging rights and not very much else on the older RXs.

Go for non-NAV, much cheaper and then invest in aftermarket, good luck.

Thanks for all the helpful advice guys.
I'll just get one without the nav and plan on getting an aftermarket head unit.

Depends on who is driving the SUV. According to my wife, the camera is a must have, she couldn't care less about the Nav. I think we used once (same as the moonroof) and now she is either using the iphone or portable Garmin. The only must have for me is the HID, I love the brightness at night and I will not buy another without it from now on.

Skip the NAV. You can buy a rear view camera set up that has the monitor in the rear view mirror.

You should have a look at Carver's setup:

Not sure if they are different on an '08, but my NAV and b.u. camera are good and very easy to use.

I just wouldnt make a deciding factor when purchasing.

I guess I'm in the minority. It's definitely an antiquated nav system but I really prefer the integrated setup and backup camera. I can still use my iPhone if need be but I tend to use the built in nav more often. It's fairly similar to the nav setup in one of my other cars so I'm used to it.

Thanks for the link.
I do like his set up but to be honest, the aftermarket system does not look as integrated as the stock Nav display. I also like the higher position in the dash of the Lexus Nav.
I'm starting to lean toward the Lexus Nav system for the back up camera option.
I think I may need it after all.

Is also a much newer generation. The RX330 uses either a GEN 3 or GEN 4 NAV depending on year. The 2nd Generation RX350 uses a GEN 5.

Would never argue with someone of the need for the backup camera. However, the navigation component is garbage for what you were paying for in those days, IMO.

Well I found a RX350 that I like with Nav/Back up Camera.
Also have a few other options that I didn't have to have like Heated seats, Xenon headlights and Dark wood trim (almost Black). I didn't know this was even an option on this car.
Hopefully we can make a deal tomorrow.
