Default Fitament: Gen 3 Rx350 wheels on Gen 2 Rx400h

Hi Folks.
First post with our new to us 2006 RX400H.

I picked up a set of 19" OEM wheels from a 2011 RX350 off Ebay. The tires were mismatched at 245/55/19 (x2), and 235/55/19 (x2). I was not so concerned about the tires as they were pretty worn down at 4/32nd and I was just going to replace them in a few months anyways with new tires.

When I went to the tire installer, he jacked up the car and tried to put the 245/55/19 wheels on the rear and he said that there was not enough clearance from the strut housing. We tried the 235/55/19 wheel and it did fit but only cleared the bottom of the strut housing by about 1/2 inch.

Can someone confirm if gen 3 19" RX350 wheels will fit on our RX400h and also whether the 235/55/19 is the proper tire size.

Thanks,

The proper tire size for the 2006 RX400h is 235/55-18. The plus 1 size is, according to Tire Rack, 245/50-19.

Like many topics you might have questions about, this has been discussed previously here at CL, thought not in much detail.

Thank you for the response. I tried to do a search and found some answers but not from anybody who actually had actually installed them on their own ride.

Anybody got experience in this configuration on their ride?

Wheel upgrades such as this are somewhat contrary to the whole hybrid concept of trying to get as much MPG as possible. Here, you are adding weight instead of subtracting. Doubtful there will be much information on this change.

Yeah, I know. I will say that the primary reason for wanting to switch to the 19" wheel is for improving the look of the ride. The secondary reason is to make the vehicle look different from every other gen 2 RX out there.

Typically all our cars get tint, wheels and suspension. In this SUV, there doesn't seem to be an upgraded rear sway bar option. Often times the wheels I choose are OEM from the same make but in a larger more appealing design.
