08 RX350 AWD Transmission Drain and refill
My mechanic just completed a Drain and Refill on my 08 RX350 AWD. He said the color is darker than red and he showed me. 82K miles on it. I bought the WS myself at $10 a quart and it took him 4 quarts.
So is 4 quarts and $30 labor charge reasonable? He said he cleaned the trans filter and magnet plug as well.
Thx.

I have know the guy for many years and so I shouldn't doubt him. He also told me that he checked the level after driven for a few miles. Anyway, I will check again tonight on a level surface and make sure there is enough fluid in there.

Even if he dropped the pan to clean the filter it wouldn't take but half an hour to perform the actual work when up on a lift and access to air tools. Agreed that this is a great deal if true as this is more than just a drain and fill. Some concern about the pan gasket if the pan was truly dropped.

Capacity is listed at just shy of 4QT with AWD taking a bit more than FWD.

I just checked at Lexusdrivers.com and it takes 3.7 qts. Maybe a little bit more for the AWD.
Automatic Transaxle
Transfer (4WD models)
Fluid capacity
Drain and refill
3.7 qt. (3.5 L, 3.1 lmp.qt.)
Fluid type Toyota Genuine ATF WS
NOTICE
Using automatic transmission fluid other than “Toyota Genuine ATF WS” may cause
deterioration in shift quality, locking up of your transmission accompanied by vibration,
and ultimately damage the automatic transmission of your vehicle.
