Default Introduction

Hello forum members!

Have been driving an '04 RX330 for many years and recently decided it needed some minor upgrades. Those searches kept pointing me here so I decided this must be a great resource!

This vehicle has been trouble free since it was new. Although it has pretty low mileage (60k) because I also ride an '09 Honda Goldwing for half of the year (or as much as I can given the climate in western New York).

So I've joined here to get some information on upgrading the navigation system and install an iPod/Bluetooth adapter. The navigation system is the original version (03.1) and lately I'm on more roads that the system doesn't know exist. I'd also love to be able to bypass the 'I Agree' prompt.

As for the adapter, I talked to Crutchfield this morning and they suggested the Audiovox MediaBridge Interface so I'm looking for posts about this (and other) units.

Looking forward to learning and contributing in this popular community!

Ken

Welcome to Club Lexus kboyer. All of the issues you asked about have been discussed here many times. Use keywords in the "search this forum" to narrow your search. There is very good information on iPod/bluetooth adapters here. I don't recall anyone on this forum recommending Crutchfield as a source, do research before you purchase. You can buy from Lexus the newest version Navigation DVD that will remove the "I Agree Screen". There is also information here on installing the DVD.

Welcome to CL!

The 04's have the old 3.1 version. Unless you go to the 5.1 version (which means you have to replace your DVD Navigation unit) you will not be able to gain much in terms of performance. If you just need upgrades on streets, you can purchase the 12.1 DVD (I am just speculating here, call Lexus if this is the case) for your generation of player.

Sorry I do not have NAV on my RX330.

Some of the SC430 owners have upgraded to the 3rd (or 4th GEN) and are happy. However it means a tear down of the DVD Navigation to replace the player plus you have to get the updated DVD. They like it but a lot of work.

Crutchfield is a good bet on the upgrade.

Good luck and post a pic or 2 when you can.

Map update information from Lexus can be found here:

http://www.lexusnavigation.com/what-to-order/

The map updates are just a DVD. Below is the URL from Sewell with details including a link for installation instructions:

http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...2004/6533.html

While the new DVD has allowed some to avoid the "I Agree" prompt that has been for newer RX350 and it is not noted to work for a 2004 RX330 that I have seen here at CL. Searching the forums will provide additional details on paths you might consider for upgrades.
