The thing about a TSB is that once you are out of warranty there is no incentive for the dealer to fix any of these problems at no charge to you. Not like a recall item. You can mention the TSB to the shop, however, they would charge you for any work performed as a result.

I have an 04 RX330 AWD and have exactly the same problem with the whine. I too have a leak with the front transfer case and have changed out the gear oil. There was not much in it, about a 1/4 of a quart and it was black. After I put new gear oil in it there is no change in the whine. Only happens with slight throttle and sounds loudest at 1900 RPMs. Could have the heat damage referred in this thread. Looking into replacing the case seal and bearings, etc.
