Default How to replace Fog Light Assembly?

I checked the forums, but I couldn't find anyone replacing their fog light assembly. I had a fog light bulb burst inside the fog light and now the glass is shattered inside.

I wanted to replace the fog light assembly with a new one. I read that you have to take your bumper out or you can remove it by taking the liner from the wheel well out.

Does anyone have any experiencing in replacing the whole fog light assembly? This is for the passenger side.

Thank you!

You can do it from behind through the fender liner. The bumper is not hard to take off.

If you do a search on headlamp condensation, there will be tips in there for the removal and assembly of the front bumpers.

Good luck.

+1 on Fender liner. Changed out the yellowish bulb with a pair of MTEC Super Whilte 35W. Better match with the factory HID.

I agree with mandyfig. The bumper is not hard to take off and it is probably easier to get the fog light with the bumper off than it would be to go from underneath. Just don't try to do it if you aren't mechanically inclined.

No need to take off the bumper. I just turn the wheel to the opposite direction, loosen a couple of screws in the fender wheel, pull out the fender liner until you can reach in with the hand, turn and viola.

Lexsc4....he wants to replace the entire assembly. Not just the bulb. But on that note. I wouldn't replace the whole assembly. Just remove it and shake the glass out, the reinstall. That should a hundred or two bucks.

oops. I didn't realized the shattered glass part. In that case, yes you will need to remove the bumper to access the foglight assembly and shake the broken pieces out.
Heck I would not even shake out the glass. The broke pcs should not affect the light pattern. Maybe I just too lazy.

Thanks for the help again. The only way to do it was to take off the bumper. I couldn't find any short cuts.

I was able to install the new fog light assembly. I plugged a bulb on for a few minutes without it being inside the actual fog light.

The reason why i did this was because I didn't want it to shatter and damage the inside of the fog light again.

Below is a picture of the damage.

Would it be safe to plug the new bulb in?

What reason would cause so much damage to the fog light assembly?
