Problems with BATT power connection on radio
I have a GROM Audio module installed on my 2005 RX330. It's a gadget that plugs into the back of the radio head unit with a Y-splitter cable and lets you run stuff like an iphone/android dock connector or bluetooth through the stereo.
It was working great until I had engine problems ( a blown timing belt) and had the car into the dealer. When it came back the unit stopped working.
I sent the unit back to the manufacturer but it's not the device itself. We did a test with a multimeter and discovered that the pin which receives constant power is not getting any voltage. the accessory power pin is getting 12 volts like it shoudl. but 0 volts on the Batt pin.
Anyone have any clues about why tha tmight be? The radio is getting power, but not this device connected to it.
Could there be something wrong with the radio? Some kind of programming setting possibly stopping it from outputting power? This device is designed to piggyback off the CD changer's input but I don't think anything is wrong with the CD changer itself. I'll have to try loading a disc into it. I'm not sure I've ever even used it. I mostly listen to the radio or plug my phone into the tape deck adapter since my bluetooth adapter isn't working right now...

Perhaps check all of your fuses, is there an inline fuse on the Y splitter?
doesnt sound like it would be caused by the timing belt issue, just a coincidence.
i would suggest a bad ground maybe, but everything else is working.

I have checked all the fuses and not found any problems with either the ones in the engine compartment or the cabin.
The cable has actually been replaced, and it doesn't have a fuse in it anyway.
The vendor is recommending that I bridge the connectors between Accessory Power and Battery Power on the molex connector which should give the device the power it needs.
My first choice would be to fix the electrical problem with the radio, obviously, but that's my next step if I can't think of anything else.
