What rim size looks best for RX
#16
I just purchased a 2007 RX 350 with 20" wheels. The wheels are peeling and one is missing the center cap. I'm thinking of replacing with the standard 18 wheels and tires but looking at tire places, there are multiple widths and sidewall heights plus now I see there are bolt pattern measurements and spacing that affects rotation. Can I simply replace the 20s with 18s and what is recommended sizes? Looks like you guys have knowledge on this and i'm hoping you can help me
The stock 18" tire size is 235/55-18. The OEM tires had a V speed rating and a Load Index of 99. The wheels are 18"x7" with a lug pattern of 5x114 and an offset of 35mm. You can sometimes find some decent quality OEM replacements on eBay:

You can also check vendors such as TireRack to see what third-party wheels are available.
Also, check your spare. It is a full size and will give you an idea of what the originals were and what came with your vehicle.

Here is another set on eBay:

Keep in mind that you will more than likely need to also purchase new tire pressure monitors for each new wheel to go along with those new tires and that they will need to be programmed to be recognized by your RX.

Great info, I'll definitely check the spare. Discount Tires is having a special with $100 rebates during the next 2 days so I'm trying to see if I should buying something now. Woukd mounting the 20" change anything on the car or wheel well? Sorry new to the whole plus sizing. I see a lot of bolt pattern of 5/100 after I enter my car info at Discount tires Direct so I'm wondering if thy will really work with my rx.

Most of these online systems are accurate as to what will fit your vehicle, however, it does not hurt to get on the phone and talk to someone before any purchase.
Yes, you can put 20" wheels on your RX. There are a number here who have. Spend some time searching here at CL. Many have posted pictures. Limit your search to the 2nd Generation RX forum so not to confuse with the 3rd Generation RX350 which has a different tire and wheel size. If you are not familiar with plus sizing your wheels and tires it would be best to work with a shop to make sure what you are looking to purchase will work. Otherwise, you get into situation where you would need spacers to be installed or even a need to install longer wheel studs to mount the package.

welcome asinblue, also check craislist for the OEM wheels. A lot of people sell them there either from them parting out or when they get bigger rims and don't need it anymore. Would definitely be worth it to check it out and save some $

thanks for the suggestion. I'm starting to figure out what specs I need to ask about before buying, like the lug pattern. I havent found any actual wheels off the exact model but a few off other cars that may fit

I do 20" wheel. 19" is consider an odd size so tire cost is no more than $10 difference for a 20" tire and if I want concave wheels, 20s are for sure more aggressive looking. As far as suspension goes, if you can afford it Air runners, no bumps no fuzz nice ride, adjustable ride height and can be slam all the way down, add on a wald body kit, you are golden lol

I would say do a 20" wheel . The RX needs a touch of sport and the 20" wheels will work perfectly. As far as ride or chance of pot hole damage, the 20" will still protect you plus we all know NOBODY goes off road in an RX

I have done more minus sizing wheels/tires on my last few vehicles. The roads in Colorado suck! So having a low profile tire means the chances of bending a rim or popping a tire in a pot hole are pretty good. I have gone to 60 series tires, they are a more comfortable ride and if a pot hole is encountered, there is not as great a potential to bend a wheel.

hi, i was thinking of replacing my stock rims.. but the look i wanted is that the front of the rims are like flushed on the edge of the quarter pannel and fender. Like when you look at it from the front or rear of the car.. the tires and rims are even on the side of the car.. i was looking at 18x8 with offset of 35mm. Would that be close to the way i want? Help anyone... Thanks
