Did you replace the springs as well?

Nope, just the struts, bellows, and front sway bar end links.

You didn't replace the FR radial bearings?

On mine, in addition to the struts being worn, the bearing had a little extra 'play' in them. In terms of ride, steering, quietness, etc., this added a very slight knocking/harness felt through the steering and through the body structure that I believe went a long way towards degrading the perceived ride quality. Inspecting the old & new bearings at time of replacement, moving the bearing by hand, you could feel a slight roughness.

All,

Per your question-I returned the KYB's to RockAuto for a full refund (KYB offers a lifetime warranty). I bought OEM RX330 and RX350 struts off of ebay and the truck is back to normal-THANK GOD!

Our RX330 is riding well again, as soon as I went over the first speed hump in our neighborhood I knew things were very different. Its back to being a luxury SUV again.

Good luck to everyone else!!

The radial bearings checked out fine. I think they were replaced prior. Car runs very smooth, no issues.

Glad to hear! This definitely pushes me towards getting rid of my KYBs and replacing with OEM.

I had all (4) replaced on my 2007 RX350 with app. 70k miles.

Went with the Monroe OESpectrum. Very happy with the ride.

I would like to replace the front struts on my 07 RX350 AWD with KYB struts and would like to hear from anyone who has the KYB struts on (model #) and are pleased with the ride etc.

Thanks Ted

Hope it goes well for you. I still have the KYBs on the Highlander and they ride fine, despite my driver’s side front blowing out recently after 3 years. Not sure if that’s the crappy KYB strut mount’s fault (it failed a bit before) or not. To be fair, the H&R lowering springs definitely weren’t helping.

Car still rides and drivers pretty well, but you can feel that the driver’s side isn’t doing a whole lot of dampening. I’ll probably get another pair of fronts or wait for coilovers.

As for the KYBs riding as rough as an M3, my Highlander on H&R springs and big sway bars still rides a helluva lot better than our E46 M3 on coilovers.

Hi mattrx, you ever have any regrets not going oem Lexus oil filled strut cartridges on the front?

Just curious as I'm also running KYB cartridges on the front with the oem springs.

I love the TRW/Sachs struts I got for my RX F&R rear. They’re comfy like the OEMs but handle even better and are still soft with my Eibach lowering springs.

I got them on Rockauto clearance for only around 40-50 per strut. The car handles almost as well as the Highlander, except the comfort is noticeably better.

I never tried KYBs with stock springs, but my Highlander came with KYBs stock and they were firm but comfortable. I’ve driven cars where we’d install KYB Strut-Plus assemblies and they rode like OEM as well, maybe ever so slightly firmer. Good units IMO
