Very strange sound
Sometimes, driving my car, I can hear a sound (comes somewhere around driver's side rear door and/or rear wheel), that continues for less than a second. The sound itself is hard to explain. Imagine that you drive a car, while someone takes a rock, throws it into your car, and hits it. That would describe the sound most closely...
It occurs randomly (once a week, once a month, etc) at random speeds (from 20 to 100 MPH) while driving straight on (never heard it while making a turn).
Sure enough, the car always remains quiet when dealer drives it, so their guys have no idea what to look for.

Look at the heat shielding for the exhaust pipes. Also check your lines below the vehicle in the area. You ight even check the door hinges to make sure they are not having something obstructing them. Check the rear door pocket too. My bet is your heat shield is loose.
