The only conclusion I can reach is that the quality of Lexus engineering and motor construction is such that it requires a lot more frequent oil changes than other brands, and that this has got to be because it is taxes the oil more.
A different conclusion would be that the dealership is not being totally truthful. Besides, there is much more to quality than oil change intervals.

BTW, European manual for Lexus RX service intervals (actually, it mentions all Lexuses) has much longer oil change interval, as I can recall it is 15,000km. In Europe all cars have longer oil change intervals (don't think their oils are any different from North American).
To me it's kind of rip off of owners in North America.

5W-30 Full Synthetic Oil every 5K to 6K miles for me. Also drop a can of seafoam about the same time.

.

It's difficult to do otherwise than recommended by the dealer if you want to be able to claim under warranty in the event of failure. It would be nice if Lexus would issue a notice stating that full synthetic oil could be changed every 7500/10000 or whatever miles, retroactive to previous models. But they don't.
Overall, the RX350 is/has been a car well-suited to my needs and overall I believe Lexus engineering is exactly as good as Toyota, which is certainly 'world-class'. However, the problems they had with earlier engines/transmissions (sludge; rear engine seal; failing transmissions) and their (probably consequent) 'need' for frequent oil change compared to other manufacturers does, in my view, indicates their own trust in the toughness of their engines is less than total. Also, it is 'easy' additional insurance for them that they do not pay for and which feeds the dealers.
So I do my 5K mile oil change, preferring full synthetic because I believe it is best, and I deplore the waste in both oil and filter....

I use Mobil 1 and get oil changes done at Toyota every 7500miles. I am out of warranty (bought used) @ 105k miles. You can reset the Maint Reqd light yourself (simple 5 second procedure)

Oil in Europe is diff than oil in the USA. 5k mile oil changes have been the norm there for many years while US has been 3k.

But it doesn't mean it was justified... Read these:

Pardon my ignorance but what do you mean by fuel injectors and intake cleaning? My 05 330 has 125K miles, I've never noticed any such work/wording on dealer paperwork (first 60K) nor have I done it!

Thanks.
