Default Help to understand the 'COOL' and 'HOT' indicator of the ATM fluid dip stick

So I did drain and fill of the ATF for my 08 using Toyota ATF WS. Total fluid came out was 4qt and 20 oz. So I put 4qt and 20oz in.

I then started the car and let it run for about 20 minutes for reaching the normal engine temperature. And I shift the stick from P to L and back to P for two to three times while putting foot on the break. And then I pull out the dip stick, clean it and reinsert and pull out again.

I found out that the level of liquid is just above the high indicator of the 'COOL' range. I thought trhat it should be within the range of 'HOT' since the engine is at the normal running temperature.

Am I wrong?

If this condition is correct, what is 'HOT' condition.

Please help me understanding this! Thanks you!

You need to drive the vehicle for about 10 - 20 minutes for the tranny temp to rise. Without the clutch plates engaging they will not generate a high temp.
