We brought it when it was 36K and now it is 65K miles. Probably that the ATF has never be replaced. I decided to give it a try. I learned from many post that it needs 4qt when doing drain and fill. However I got 4qt 20oz out. I only brought 4qz ATF WS fluid and I will get another qt tomorrow.

My question is that is this normal?

Mine let out somewhere between 4-5 quarts so I would consider this normal. In my opinion the more that comes out the better, in terms of being able to get as much new fluid in there as possible. On my GS350 a simple drain and fill doesnt work as I was told only 2-3 quarts comes out and there is about 8 quarts in the system. You have to do a total flush.

The Lexus specification sheet says that it is 3.8 qts. See attached. If any 07-09 owner has done this, I would like to know how much you got out.

I wouldnt be concerned as long as you replaced exactly what came out.

I would say it depends on how warm the fluid (engine/transmission) is. You could have had some come out from the cooler. Just replace what you drained and you should be fine

The engine was cool. I just a little confused because the service manual calls out for 4qt of ATF when doing drain and fill. I will get another qt from Toyota dealer today.
