Default Side mirrors won't move left or right

Hello, first post on this forum.
I did a search on this forum and also a Google search online but didn't find an answer.
I just inherited a 2004 RX330. The outside mirrors will move up and down but not left or right (or out and in). I saw a possible fix online of side mirrors being folded in for a car wash or other reason, and sometimes they aren't moved back to center. This didn't help.
I found a service bulletin:
EL004-07
It shows an actuator change.

Any suggestions or experience with the service bulletin?
Thanks.

Just a small suggestion. Try and press the glass on one side in. To try and explain further, on the side of the glass that is closest to you, press in about the centre of the glass edge to push the mirror "in". This will set the mirror back a few mm back into the housing. Don't press too hard. If you adjust too far, just press on the opposite side to level out. Make sure you then have your mirror switch to the side that's the problem and try adjusting. Here's a roughly edited picture for illustration purposes only. So where the arrow is pointing, press in.

Thanks...but no luck. I have an appointment at my dealer this weekend.

Dealer said it is the actuator that's listed in the tech bulletin that is the cause. $1300 to repair, I think I'll look elsewhere.
And I realize that my warranty has run out but I had hoped they might cover at least part of the repair due to their knowledge that a bulletin was needed. Oh well...

Sounds like the motor/actuator which was what the dealer said.

Shouldn't cost nowhere near 1300 from an independent shop or if you did it yourself!

Wow that is a ridiculous price.... you could replace the whole mirror cheaper than that.

Got the mirror actuators repaired by a reputable local place-$513 out the door.

Mine stopped working years ago. Since I don't need to move these mirrors once set, I just manually adjusted them and ignore this actuator issue. Guess I grew up in the manual adjusting era and I wouldn't consider spending $1,500 or even $500 to fix it.

Three different drivers use this car and after one long trip of rolling the windows down and adjusting them manually that was enough.
