Default Thinking of purchasing a CPO RX

Hello. I am thinking of getting a CPO 09 or 10 RX. I am not sure which one to get. I would be glad to get recommendations from board members.

I am concerned about maintenance cost, timing belt, tires etc. I have been looking at CPO's on the Lexus website and they seem to have some nice 09's in the $30K range.

Any significant advantages of the '10 model year as opposed to the '09?

Thanks for your input. I will be looking forward to your responses.

Pierre

Pierre01,

The RX350 does not have a timing belt, instead it uses a timing chain. Therefore, no need to change. You would, however, have to change out the water pump should that ever start to leak.

The '09 is a 2nd Generation RX. The '10 is the first year for the 3rd Generation RX. Quite a number of changes to the interior and exterior.

Maintenance costs are expensive either way. You can do many things yourself. Service can also be done at a Toyota or independent shop for most of the basics. Hopefully, you will just need oil changes. Tires, are well... expensive. But, they last a while. Hopefully, the one you choose has decent tread left.

Not all CPO's are the same. Some times you can get a better condition RX on another non-Lexus dealership lot. If it is still under the Lexus warranty, you can purchase an extended warranty from Lexus to cover much of your needs without the CPO expense.

Finally, use the search features of the forum to look around. Many of the questions you might want to ask have already been answered.
