Exclamation My Wife's 2005 RX330 saved her life.

We recently purchased a 2005 RX330 for my wife. She was on her way home from work, blacked out because of a medical condition and went offset into a tree. She then bounced off that tree and hit another. She had to be airlifted from the scene and taken to the hospital via helicopter because of head trauma. She was wearing her seatbelt but still sustained a massive gash up her face that required about 75 stitches. However, she walked away with no broken bones, no brain bleeding, no internal damage. She did suffer a major concussion, but her right knee was saved by the knee airbags. Now if there would have been a passenger, they most likely would've lost both legs if they didn't die. But she hit the tree at 60 or so MPH, no braking whatsoever as she was unconscious. That might have contributed to her lack of broken bones, but there is no doubt in my mind that this vehicle saved her ***. The guys at the wrecking lot, crash investigators, doctors; all in shock at her lack of injuries. I will be buying another Lexus, if not the exact same one after this. If you own an RX330, 350, 400h etc, just know that you have a GREAT car. My 2 kids have a mom and I have a wife because this vehicle held up the way it did.

I am so happy your wife is relatively ok. I do believe being "limp" certainly helped her to not break any bones.

May I ask if you could tell what caused the large cut to her face?

This post makes me feel good to have my wife and young son in an RX.

Glad your wife will be OK and that the 330 performed well. Seriously. it's time for your wife to consider hanging up the car keys, simply too dangerous for everyone.

Having totalled my Scion tC just a few months ago I have seen how much they protect us. These cars are built solid and hold up really well. I am just glad to hear your wife is okay and is walking away from this. It is amazing what the body can handle (specially when passed out). Bring the car to the dealership and tell them to put it on display.

Crash investigation thinks the cut is from the rearview mirror. Her face hit the airbag and she was wearing her seatbelt. But the mirror was in the side pocket of the driver's door and had blood on it so it was most likely the cause.

This is a conversation we will be having, along with our doctor. But the what if's of having my kids in the car, or hurting another motorist, etc is the biggest concern most definitely.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I have only had the car for a few months and hadn't had time to register on the forum, but I had been lurking for a while and figured I would share. My wife's uncle is the general manager of our local Lexus dealership and did actually say something about displaying it there!
