Default Unreasonable offer on 2005 RX330 104K miles??

I am looking at a 2005 RX330 with 104K, dealer asking 15,888.00 - vehicle new on lot, has not even been looked over by mechanic/detailed (still very clean and they let me test drive it) It drives well.
We looked on-line and recalls have been complete, dealer said timing belt is going to be changed along with any other maintenance and buff out a few scratches on bumper.
I still need get VIN to do my own checks. This RX330 was pretty base model- if you can call it that because I just think the inside is beautiful!!! ...but no bells and whistles...

Unreasonable to offer $14,900...knowing we will meet around 15500?

Is this price to high to begin with? I live in DFW Texas area - I find it hard to gauge the market, it is all over the map!

Any advice would be great!
Thanks

Plenty out there to compare against. Just update for your exact location and tastes.

That seems a little high to me, especially for a base model with 104k and no navigation system. If you really want this car, I would counter with $14,000 and see where it goes from there.

when I traded in my 04 RX330 with 112K miles, pretty loaded except for ML system, I got $13,500 for it. I know they listed it at $18,xxx and it didnt move. Mine also did not have the timing belt changed

Keep in mind that not everyone wants to have the built-in NAV system. While it would be nice to have for the backup camera, the system is not all it is cracked up to be. The map upgrade discs are expensive, there are better portable solutions as well as third party double-din solutions as we have seen posted of late here at Club Lexus. Plus, you are stuck with the generation screen the vehicle comes with instead of being able to upgrade the technology to the latest whenever you want.

How often do one really need access to maps? Unless one does a lot of traveling the need for the NAV may be very minimal. Will vary from customer-to-customer.

If someone already has a smartphone, they may not want the NAV system. Portable units from TomTom, Garmin and others are far superior to the Lexus NAV for less than $200 which include lifetime map and traffic updates.

Now, if the Lexus NAV gave you features like HD radio and live traffic updates it might be worth discussion.

Another thing you should have checked prior to purchase is the steering rack. Leaks are getting to be a problem as our cars age and it is expensive to repair.

Keep in mind that odometer is exempt after 100k in TX. Make sure it is really 104k miles and not rolled back. Even if it is not rolled back, the value drops significantly when a vehicle hits 100k.

I have an 04 with 97K. I have had the timing belt changed along with the power steering rack and high pressure hose. All fluids changed at 95K, brakes new too.

It is loaded with everything. Tow package, wood everywhere, DVD entertainment, power hatch, Navigation and rear view camera. I honestly think it has every option that an 04 came with.
Been thinking about trading it in on a CT 200h.

Am I being crazy? Could I get 16K or more from a private party or 15K on trade??

Default Pricing

My friend just bought a 07 RX350 with Nav/90k for 17500 so I think your dealer is still priced high. Look around on cargurus.com and found several in the ~16k range for a 07 RX350 in your area

thanks everyone for great info - I had a feeling this was high.
I am going to look to buy from private seller.
I dont really need NAV and with the way roads change around here it would not be worth it.

thanks again everyone! Love this site!!!
