Very low MPG

OK all - here is the update after a few weeks of driving.
I did the ECU reset on 13th of this month. After that, i noticed the small change in city driving which resulted in 16 MPG. I am very light on the gas pedal, and try to coast as much as possible. My office is about 6 miles, and hardly the vehicle warms up.
However, the highway mpg has IMPROVED tremendously from 21-22 mpg to 27 - 28 MPG solid. I took for two stretches 65 miles each, and consistently doing about 60-65MPH. The result MPG was great.
ECU reset does work. Also, i am now going to change the tire pressure as the next step. Any recommendations how much can it be bumped for a safe ride, also a smooth ride.

Good News!! My theory re; the fuel causing low millage is correct! I got fuel at a Shell station a little farther than where I live. And farther from where I usually purchase my fuel, and now my millage is 19.0 combined driving. (Premium) must be the stations where I usually purchase my fuel from.

Give it a couple of tanks in a row to see where it goes to make sure it was not a one time fluke.

The 28 mpg that i got on highway was from 87 octane - the most economical fuel. for some reason, my car dislikes expensive fuel that returns lower mpg.

I just wish we had a few stations here with no friggin Ethanol in it. Last year I found a station with pure gas, and I had terrific power and mpg`s on that gas. This Government sucks!!

Could be worse, we have the crappy's gas in the US in California...Mileage always goes up when I fill in Nevada....

On tire pressure: not all tires are alike, and so, the same tire pressure for all would be a big mistake. Compounds vary, sidewall strength varies, and tread profile on the road will vary. So, use my 85% rule: check the sidewall and see what the maximum allowed air pressure is for the tire, multiply it by .85 and set you tire pressure to that. Then watch your tires for abnormal wear and adjust as necessary. Center wearing too fast? Over-inflation. Outside tread wearing too fast? Under-inflation. Even wear across the tread? Ahhhh, Priceless!
For example, the tires on my RX330 are rated for max pressure of 40 psi. .85 time 40 equals 34; on long trips I'd up the pressure to 36 for better gas mileage and cooler running tires while at freeway speeds for extended periods of time.
My GS400 now sports Michelin Pilot Sport A/S rated at max pressure of 51. .85 times 51 is about 43 psi. and on a long drive to Dallas I upped the pressure to 46. Great running, good gas mileage, smooth ride, and tire wear is normal across the tread. :<) "Your mileage may vary."
