I'm waiting for these. I think we'll know so much more after these:
- Jan 4-Jan 12 2003 Los Angeles Auto Show Los Angeles, CA
- Jan 11-Jan 20 2003 North American Int'l Auto Show Detroit, MI

hmmm...
I believe the 7.0 secs. 0-60 time is a bit optimistic.
Given the current model can reach 60 in anywhere from 8.5-8.7 secs according to the auto rags, I'm not sure adding an extra 18 horses and however more torque will realistically reach that kind of time.
The MDX, according to Motor Trend, does an 8.1 with 240 HP.
The ML500, again Motor Trend, states a 6.8 time with 288 HP from a V8 no less.
It'd be cool if the RX330 could pull such a time. Guess we'll see.

I agree with satxrx. Unless the RX loses 500# or more, 7.0 is more likely to be 0-50 time with the minimal increase in hp and torque.
rule of thumb: hp and/or torque have to increase 10% before seat of pants notices any difference..........and 7.0 vs 8.5 is definitely noticeable.

Bear in mind, Lexus claims it will outperform an X5 in Handling, Acceleration, braking, fuel mileage, etc..So you never know.

BMW X5 3.0i 0-60 acceleration from the BMW site is:
8.1 sec manual / 8.6 sec auto
We can expect the RX330 to be at least 8.5 maybe
8.0 sec 0-60. It will be impossible to do 7.0 sec
considering the future RX's almost 4,000 lbs weight
and 240 hp power rating.

How much does the GX weigh? I know its not exactly a feather weight. Lexus claims 0-60 is 8.5 for this vehicle. Optimisitc or not? Oh BTW: Miami Car Show is going on now - no word on the RX. I'm not suprised

Then, next year or may be 04 the RX will have the hybrid engine with 0-60 in around 6 sec. if I'm not mistake. Another wake up call from Lexus.
