Default Mirror Not Tilting

Hi. The driver side mirror of my car can move left and right, but does not move up and down. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Appreciate the help.

Welcome to Club Lexus and your 1st post!

That's what both of mine were doing when the gave up the ghost. Lol

I had to replace my mirrors.

Ps, I went with unpainted black aftermarket mirrors off flea bay. They work good. I'd recommend pulling the door panel and take pics of your mirror plugs so you get the right one. There is mirrors with memory and mirrors without memory and they plugs are different. Also, there are heated mirrors option that you may or may not have.

Mirrors come off easily with a 10mm combo wrench, I couldn't get a sticker on it there are 3 screws holding each mirror on. They may be found at a salvage yard/pick-a-part of you have one locally you can check online

There are two motors in the mirror assembly. Similar to a RC car motor. They control the left right and up down function. The gear on the up down motor could be slipping. I took the time to replace mine with a scrap year motor assembly. A new complete mirror assembly would be easiest way if you can get it to color match. There are a few videos online. Be careful with the trim gasket around the mirror assembly as the weather stripping nubs can break off. Best of luck.

The dealer quoted me $400+ just for the mirror. It did not include the mirror assembly. It was just a piece of glass with some wires attached.
Btw, it's the mirror with memory and heated option.

That price sounds off to me.

Oh yes sir, it's off and astronomical what they want for just the mirror glass.

That's why I gave up my heated mirror option and went with aftermarket side view mirror assemblies, complete bolt on units.

I sold my OEM mirror glasses on flea bay and it paid for my new mirror assemblies.

At the time, there were no aftermarket mirrors with heated glass anyway.

You need to figure out what you have before you go shopping.

1: mirror assembly with or without memory
2: heated or unheated mirror glass

Cheers!
